What is a Jewish Federation?
A Jewish Federation is the central fundraising and community-planning organization for Jewish life in a city or region. It runs a community-wide campaign, funds local partner agencies — Jewish Family Services, JCCs, schools and programs for older adults — supports Jewish communities in Israel and around the world, and brings the community together in a crisis.
Do I need to be a donor to get involved?
Often not. Many Federation programs, volunteer projects and newcomer activities are open to the wider community, though some events are for donors, members or particular groups. Each event listing on FedFinder says to check eligibility with the host unless the listing itself says all are welcome.
How do I find the Federation that serves me?
Enter a US ZIP code above. FedFinder looks it up in the ZIP-code assignments JFNA publishes in its Federation Finder and shows the Federation listed for it. You can also search by Federation name, office city, or state or province. Canadian postal codes aren't supported yet, so in Canada search by city or province. Service areas can change, so confirm with the Federation.
Is FedFinder part of JFNA or a Federation?
No. FedFinder is an independent directory, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jewish Federations of North America or any Federation it lists. It is built from JFNA's public directory, public tax filings and each Federation's own website.
Sources & independence
FedFinder is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jewish Federations of North America or any Federation listed. The directory and ZIP-code assignments come from JFNA's public Federation Finder. Financial figures come from IRS and CRA filings. Events come from each Federation's own calendar, and local programs are checked by hand against official sites. Messages sent through FedFinder come to us first; we forward them to the Federation only with the sender's permission.
